About Mary

Meet Mary MJ Greene

I care so deeply about our community and our schools. Lander is home. My husband and I are raising our two children here, and both attend Lander public schools. As a parent, I want our kids to have great teachers, a supportive place to learn, and every chance to discover their strengths. I want the same for every student in FCSD #1.

For more than 20 years, I’ve built my career around leadership, community service, education, volunteer service, and bringing people together to make good things happen.

As Executive Director of the Lander Community Foundation, I’ve helped strengthen our local nonprofit community, built partnerships across Lander, and led efforts that have invested millions of dollars in local organizations and community priorities. I’ve also spent nearly two decades teaching leadership and technical skills through experiential learning and have served in fundraising and leadership roles with organizations throughout Fremont County.

I’m a relationship builder, problem solver, fundraiser, facilitator, volunteer, and lifelong learner. I know how to listen, ask good questions, bring diverse perspectives to the table, and turn ideas into action. I’ve seen firsthand that strong organizations are built by investing in people, setting clear goals, working collaboratively, and continually asking how we can do better.

I believe those same principles belong in our schools. As a School Board trustee, I will put students first, support the teachers and staff who make our schools strong, encourage responsible and forward-looking decisions, and work collaboratively with families, educators, administrators, and our broader community.

Our schools have much to be proud of! My goal is to help build on that success and make sure every student is prepared for what’s next.

Raising our family in Lander has deepened my appreciation for the people, relationships, and community that make this such a special place to call home.
